Air and sea freight from Finland to Argentina

We ship air freight from Helsinki Airport to Buenos Aires Ezeiza, typically in 1–3 days, and sea freight in containers or as LCL to the port of Buenos Aires. We collect anywhere in Finland, file the export declaration, issue the air waybill or bill of lading and hand over to our partner in Argentina for import clearance and delivery. Argentine import rules change often, so before the goods leave Finland we ask the buyer and its customs broker to confirm that the import can go ahead.

Which airports and ports in Argentina do you ship to?

  • Air: Buenos Aires Ezeiza (EZE) is Argentina’s main international cargo airport. Shipments to other cities usually clear in Buenos Aires and continue by road or domestic flight. There is no direct cargo flight from Helsinki, so shipments connect in a European hub, chosen by price, capacity and schedule.
  • Sea: the port of Buenos Aires is the main container gateway. Full containers (FCL) and smaller shipments (LCL) both work.

What Argentina requires on the documents

Before shipping we check that:

  • The buyer can import: it has a CUIT tax number and is registered as an importer, and the CUIT is on the commercial invoice, packing list and waybill.
  • A customs broker is appointed: imports are cleared by a licensed Argentine customs broker (despachante de aduana) working for the buyer, or by our partner.
  • The invoice is complete and matches the other documents: full goods description, HS code, quantity, unit price, total value, currency, Incoterm, country of origin, gross and net weight. Argentine customs is strict about differences between documents.
  • Permits are in place for regulated goods: food, medicines, medical devices, cosmetics, chemicals and some electrical products may need approval or certification. The buyer’s customs broker confirms which permits apply.
  • Wooden packaging is ISPM 15 treated and marked.
  • Dangerous goods and lithium batteries are classified and packed under the IATA DGR before booking. Dangerous goods

Export from Finland

A shipment to Argentina leaves the EU, so it needs an export declaration. Send us the commercial invoice, packing list and your EORI number, and any export licence for dual-use goods. Once the goods have left the EU, Finnish Customs confirms the export. Keep that confirmation: it proves the sale is zero-rated for VAT.

Duties and the EU–Mercosur agreement

Argentina charges import duty, VAT and other taxes on imports, so agree the Incoterm and who pays before shipping. The EU and the Mercosur countries, including Argentina, have negotiated a trade agreement. We do not treat it as applying until it is in force for Argentina; until then, goods from Finland pay the normal Argentine rates. We check the status when you ask for a quote. Common problems on the Argentina lane, and how we avoid them

  1. The buyer is not registered to import, or the CUIT is missing: clearance cannot start. We confirm the CUIT and registration before booking.
  2. Changed import rules: a permit or approval the buyer did not expect. We ask the buyer’s broker to confirm the import can go ahead before the goods leave.
  3. Documents that do not match: a different value, weight or description on the invoice, packing list and waybill can lead to fines. We compare them before shipping.
  4. Storage charges while clearance waits: charges build up quickly at the airport or port. We send the documents to our partner before the goods arrive.

How it works

  1. Send the pickup address, destination, goods description, dimensions, weights and Incoterm.
  2. You get a price, routing and transit time.
  3. We collect the goods, check the documents and clear export in Finland.
  4. You get the AWB or B/L number for tracking.
  5. Our partner clears import in Argentina and delivers.
