Foreign trade consulting: practical advice on importing and exporting

We help companies plan imports and exports before the first shipment: which Incoterm to agree, which commodity code applies, what duty and VAT will cost and which documents are needed. The advice comes from people who clear shipments every day, not from theory. We do not give legal advice, and we do not advise on trade with Russia or Belarus.

  • Commodity codes (CN) and duty: classification and a landed cost estimate; when a binding tariff information decision from Finnish Customs is worth applying for
  • Origin and trade agreements: when preferential duty is possible and what proof of origin is needed
  • EORI, customs representation and documents: what to have in place before the first import or export
  • Product requirements: pointers to the authorities responsible, such as Tukes, Ruokavirasto or Fimea

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a forwarder to import for the first time?

Not necessarily, but a first import goes more smoothly with someone who checks the code, value and documents in advance.

Can you tell me the duty before I order?

Yes, if you give the product description and origin. We estimate the duty and VAT.

Do you give legal advice?

No. For legal questions we recommend a lawyer specialising in trade.
