Rail freight to and from Finland

Rail can be a middle option between sea and air: faster than an ocean container and cheaper than air freight on some long lanes. We only use routes that avoid Russia and Belarus, for example the Trans-Caspian (Middle Corridor) route between China and Europe, with the last leg to Finland by truck or ferry. We arrange rail freight on all available lanes, including to and from China.

When does rail freight make sense?

  • Goods are too urgent for sea freight but too heavy or low-value for air
  • Full containers or larger part loads on long overland lanes
  • Intermodal transport inside Europe, where trailers or containers travel part of the way by train

How long does rail freight take?

Transit time depends on the route, border crossings and transshipments, and routes that avoid Russia and Belarus take longer than the old northern route. We confirm the time in each quote.
