Which routes do you use to Kazakhstan?
- Air freight: from Helsinki Airport to Almaty (ALA), the main cargo airport, or to Astana (NQZ), connecting in a hub such as Istanbul. Shymkent and other cities on request.
- Multimodal, for larger volumes: by sea and rail or by road along the Trans-Caspian route (the “Middle Corridor”) through Turkey or Georgia and across the Caspian Sea to Aktau. It takes longer than air but costs less for heavy cargo; we confirm the route and time in the quote.
How long does freight from Finland to Kazakhstan take?
| Service | Typical transit |
|---|---|
| Air freight to Almaty or Astana | 1–3 days |
| Multimodal via the Trans-Caspian route | confirmed in the quote |

Export from Finland: sanctions and documents
Every shipment to Kazakhstan needs an EU export declaration. On top of that, the EU checks closely that goods do not end up in Russia. Before booking we go through:
- The goods and their HS code: whether they are dual-use goods that need an export licence, or common high priority items that customs checks case by case.
- The “no re-export to Russia” clause: EU rules require it in sales contracts for many goods. Have it in the contract or on the invoice.
- The end user: who uses the goods and for what. An end-use statement from the buyer avoids most questions from customs.
- Documents: commercial invoice with HS code, value and Incoterm, packing list, your EORI number and any export licence.
We do not ship to, from or through Russia or Belarus.
Import in Kazakhstan
Kazakhstan is a member of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), so EAEU customs rules and duties apply. The consignee’s broker files the import declaration. Many technical products, machines and electrical goods need an EAEU conformity certificate or declaration (EAC); the buyer should have it before the goods arrive. A certificate of origin is often requested, so tell us if you need one.
Common problems on the Kazakhstan lane, and how we avoid them
- The export stops in Finnish Customs: the goods or the end user raise questions. We check the HS code and end use before booking.
- No re-export clause in the contract: customs asks for it. We remind you before the goods leave.
- No EAEU certificate: the goods wait in Kazakhstan. We ask the buyer to confirm it in advance.
- The consignee’s BIN or name differs between documents: clearance is delayed. We match the details on the invoice and the waybill.
How it works
- Send the pickup address, destination, goods description with HS code, dimensions, weights and end user.
- We check the export rules and send a price, routing and transit time.
- We collect the goods and clear export in Finland.
- You get the AWB number for tracking.
- The consignee’s broker clears import in Kazakhstan, and our partner delivers if needed.
